This blog is a notebook for a photobook of a particular place - - that of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. The book, which consists of text and images on each page emerges from the poodlewalks. There are underlying blogs/notebooks that explore different themes, namely, Abstractions, Rhizomes and The Littoral Zone. The work is premised on walking art.
It is a working towards a photobook for several reasons. There is no photographic gallery in Adelaide, photographic exhibitions are expensive (gallery hire, printing and framing) they have a limited life span, and they are seen by few people. Exhibitions are limited in presentation prints on a wall with a label and enclosed in a white cube. They are here today and gone tomorrow, with the photographer left financially shortchanged Photobooks offer more possibilities in terms of design, presentation and the text-image relationship.
The first step on from the notebook will be an e-book. When the book is open the text is on the left page and the image is on the facing page.
