Two seascapes from the winter of 2022. Both of the pictures are of Encounter Bay from Rosetta Head (Kongkengguwarr) . This is a headland, 97m above sea level
I pretty much stand in the same location and I'm looking in the same direction east by south east --- the camera is basically looking across Encounter Bay to the coastline of the Coorong.
This is in the early morning before sunrise.
This is a long term project and is a shift the emphasis away from the single image (the good photograph) that is abstracted from its context and which is favoured by the gallery and the high art market. The project is a movement towards a series of photographs.
Rosetta Head is known as Kongkengguwar (or Longkewar) by the Ramindjeri people and it is a headland, 97m above sea level. It is made of granite that was formed around 500 million years ago during the Cambrian Period. Its dome shape is the result of north moving glacier and then the sea level rise from the melting of the ice age.
